A winery asked us. This is the answer.

ERP from harvest to label, German wine law included. One system instead of spreadsheets, paper and a second window.

Get in touch See how it works

Three systems that don’t talk to each other.

Most wineries run on a combination of spreadsheets, a generic ERP, and handwritten cellar notes. It works — until it doesn’t.

When harvest data lives in Excel, fermentation records live in a notebook, and sales figures live in accounting software, nobody has a complete picture. Errors at bottling don’t come from carelessness. They come from information that never converged.

Generic ERP platforms like SAP Business One don’t understand varietals, vineyard parcels, or vintage years. They don’t understand fermentation stages or cellar lots. And labelling compliance — mandatory under German wine law (Weingesetz) — isn’t a module you bolt on. Every bottle that leaves a German winery must carry legally prescribed information: origin designation, varietal, vintage, quality classification. Getting that wrong means relabelling runs or pulled shipments.

Pinoterra was built for this operation. Not adapted for it.

From harvest to bottling in one system.

Pinoterra covers the full production cycle of a winery:

Vineyard and harvest — Track parcels (Weinberge), varietals (Rebsorten), sites (Lagen), and crop yields. Harvest intake (Traubenannahme) flows directly into lot management.

Fermentation and maturation — Fermentation vessels, temperature curves, racking operations, sulphuring. Every cellar decision is linked to the lot it belongs to. The German stages — Vergärung (primary fermentation), Ausbau (maturation and development) — are native concepts in Pinoterra, not workarounds.

Bottling and inventory — Live bottle counts, bulk stock, and container inventory. Bottling orders draw automatically from cellar stock.

Labelling and Weingesetz compliance — Mandatory declarations, origin designations, VDP classifications, alcohol content, allergen notices. Pinoterra checks labelling requirements before the label prints.

Sales and financials — Pricing, customer orders, direct-to-consumer, export documentation. Accounting interface for German DATEV and standard export formats.

Bank transactions via KontoKit. Optionally, Pinoterra takes transactions from KontoKit, our local home banking tool. Pinoterra works without KontoKit too; bank access stays with you, and your PIN and credentials never reach Pinoterra.

Why wineries switch to Pinoterra.

It speaks the language of the cellar.

Vintage, varietal, parcel, maturation stage — no mapping to generic fields. Winemakers work with the terms they already use. The system follows.

Weingesetz compliance is built in.

German wine law specifies what every label must carry. Pinoterra validates labelling requirements automatically — origin designation, classification, mandatory declarations — before anything goes to print.

Your Excel data comes with you.

Twenty years of winery records sit in your spreadsheets. Pinoterra imports lots, vintages, and inventory data from standard formats. Switching is one step, not a rebuild.

Honestly: what isn’t finished yet.

Pinoterra is not an off-the-shelf product. We’re building it with a small group of wineries who are shaping it alongside us.

Not every feature is available for every operation today. Export documentation for markets outside the EU is still in development. Some integrations with legacy wine trade systems are in progress.

What works reliably today: harvest intake through bottling, Weingesetz-compliant labelling, inventory management, and DATEV accounting integration.

If you want to know whether Pinoterra makes sense for your operation now, we’ll tell you directly.
